From The Tallahassee Democrat, 28 October 2015Q: Since you mention social media, what are some of the good and bad aspects of the social-media dominated world we live in?A: This is my favorite question. It’s actually at the root of my book that recently came out. My book is called “Dot Complicated,” and it basically addresses this exact issue. In so in many ways, it’s made our lives amazing and wonderful. Imagine back just 20 years ago and meeting a friend with no GPS and no cell phone. How did we ever meet up with people? I don’t know. You had to use a pay phone and a paper map. So technology has made our lives so amazing, convenient, fast and easy.At the same time, though, all you have to do is look around and you see people who are buried in their phones instead of talking to people and they’re on the phone when they’re driving and putting themselves and other people in danger. It’s almost like we’ve crossed this line where, in some ways, the text that was supposed to make our lives easier and bring us closer to the people we love can sometimes now get in the way … We have to think about how we can be more responsible with the tech in our own lives.
