As we draw closer to the end of the year, there are some amazing events happening. Check out this display in our Whare Mātauranga.
From the 12th to the 18th of Mahuru (September) it is Te wiki o te Reo Māori. This is a very special year as we celebrate the Petihana Reo Māori 50th Anniversary (Rāapa 14th Mahuru). On the 14th of Mahuru 1972, a petition signed by over 30, 000 people (both Māori and Non-Māori) and led by rangitahi from Te Reo Māori society and Ngā Tamatoa who wanted te reo Māori to be taught in schools was taken to Parliament.

It is because of this tremendous act of manawanuitanga and manaakitanga, that we strive to learn te Reo Māori at our kura (schools) today.
There are many ways in which you can be part of this special week, while improving your knowledge of te Reo Māori.
Come along to our Whare Pukapuka at lunch play time and enjoy listening to a pakiwaitara (story), colouring in and talking about some whakatauki, learn some kupu hou (new words) located all around our Whare Pukapuka and read some amazing ngā pukapuka.
learn and trying saying kiwaha (phrases) or kupu (words) in your everyday kōrero while at kura, kāinga (home) or when you are in your hapori whānui (wider community).
This year’s theme for Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e lea faka-Tonga - Tonga Language Week - is: Ke Tu'uloa 'a e lea faka-Tonga 'i Aotearoa, which means Sustaining the Tongan Language in Aotearoa.
You may have heard of Sherlock Holmes but did you know that he had a sister. Enola Holmes is a teenage girl who becomes a savvy super sleuth. The first book in this series, Enola searches for her mother who has disappeared. The author of the series is Nancy Springer. Come along and check out all of our wonderful ngā pukapuka about being a super sleuth or a detective.
This year’s theme for ‘Epetoma o te reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani – Cook Islands Language Week is ‘Ātuitui’ia au ki te Oneone o tōku ‘Ui Tupuna which means, connect me to the soil of my ancestors.
We have a great selection of books about this beautiful culture.
Our theme for this Green Week is 'Enviro Heroes'. For all of this week, our tamariki will be learning about how to be Kaitiaki of our world. Our Whare Mātauranga has a great range of ngā pukapuka on this topic.

In our whare Mātauranga we have many wonderful ngā pakiwaitara (stories) for you to read and enjoy. There are also many great ngā ataata (videos) of these ngā pakiwaitara online. Here is just a couple to watch.

Today is Pink Shirt Day. We will celebrate this special day by wearing a pink t-shirt or anything pink.
Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

This Green Week we will be learning about Tohorā (Whales) and how we can be kaitiaki of our moana.

Everyday there is an activity that you can come along and do if you want to.
This week is Book Week, a chance to celebrate our love of books and reading!
During this week, all of ākonga will have the opportunity to do activities that encourage them to engage more with ngā pukapuka (books) and share their favourite characters with their peers. There are also some awesome displays both in our Whare Mātauranga (House of knowledge) and in our hōro (hall).
